Compliance & Business Operations Intern
About Marsstein
Marsstein is a European AI startup building automation tools for regulatory compliance.
We help companies navigate GDPR, the EU AI Act, and other European regulations — using AI to make compliance faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
We're a small founding team, so you won't be fetching coffee. You'll sit in real client conversations, own real deliverables, and shape how we go to market.
Your Role
This is a hybrid role that sits at the intersection of compliance, business, and tech. You'll split your time across three areas depending on your strengths and interests:
Compliance & Legal Research
- Research regulatory requirements (GDPR, EU AI Act, national implementations)
- Help build compliance frameworks and documentation for clients
- Support regulatory risk assessments
- Track regulatory developments and enforcement trends across the EU
Business & Sales
- Research target markets and potential clients
- Help prepare sales materials, pitch decks, and proposals
- Support outreach to companies expanding into the European market
- Assist with client onboarding and relationship management
Operations
- Help structure internal processes as we scale
- Support grant applications and funding documentation
- Assist with administrative tasks that keep a startup running
You don't need experience in all three — we'll shape the role around you.
Thesis Topics
If you're writing your thesis, we can offer topics grounded in real market problems:
- AI governance frameworks: How should companies comply with the EU AI Act?
- Cross-border compliance: Mapping regulatory requirements across EU jurisdictions
- AI in legal compliance: Can LLMs automate regulatory analysis?
- Market entry compliance: What do international companies need to operate in the EU?
- Enforcement trends: Analyzing GDPR and AI Act enforcement patterns across DPAs
We'll co-develop the topic with you and your university supervisor.
