Marsstein is an AI company based in Konstanz, Germany. We build automation for regulatory compliance and finance, and we support Chinese companies operating across the European market.

We are now building our finance function, and this role sits at its centre.

Why this role is different

Most accounting positions maintain existing processes. Here you help design new ones.

You will handle real accounting work for German and European entities, and you will work directly with our AI engineers to turn that work into automated systems. Your practical experience decides how our finance products behave: what a document extractor has to recognise, where a VAT check must be strict, which step should never be automated at all.

You will not only use accounting software. You will help build it.

What you will do

German and European accounting

Day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation
Month-end and year-end closing under HGB, together with our tax advisors
Financial reporting and analysis

Cross-border e-commerce

VAT compliance for Germany and the EU, including OSS and IOSS
Reconciliation of marketplace and payment data (Amazon, Shopify, Stripe, PayPal)
High transaction volumes, handled reliably

Multi-country operations

Intra-community supplies, reverse charge, EU sales reporting
Multi-currency and cross-border invoicing across several EU jurisdictions

Finance AI

Work with our engineers on invoice processing, document understanding and workflow automation
Test what the system produces, and define what "correct" has to mean

What you bring

A degree or completed commercial training in accounting, finance or tax
Practical experience in German accounting (HGB). Experience with cross-border e-commerce or EU VAT is a strong plus
Business-fluent Chinese and English. German is welcome, but not a requirement
Confidence with Excel and accounting systems such as DATEV, Lexoffice or SAP
Curiosity about AI. You do not need a technical background, but you should want to work with these tools rather than around them

Certifications such as Steuerfachangestellte, Bilanzbuchhalter, ACCA or CPA are valued.
